what type of mufflers do you have??

the car has chambered pipes. it was the OE exhaust on 1969 Z28s , SS350s and SS396s from the begining of production till around January 1969, and then an option untill May, when they were cancelled completely because of noise violation.

The chambered exhaust is really a perforated pipe within a larger pipe and there are two sections where this occurs,, one is under the drivers seat and then a transverse section behind the rear axle.

running ’bout 14 second quarter mile times they were very fast for their day but not comparable to today’s sports cars. just for reference the new chevy cobalt SS could run with these in stock form.

how long and how much of a pain is it to adjust the cams?

I don’t know about that…. with stock manifolds on stock tires.. sure… but these cars were purpose built for SCCA racing…
thats why they came with the same Carb that was put on the 396-375 hp cars LOL…

with a blueprint and a good set of tuned headers, these motors will make an easy 365-400 hp at the Clutch… this car made 301 rwhp with an out of the box holley on it, and headers.. and it had huge spikes all over the dyno pull which tells me that it was not anywhere near ideal tune.

i got a duntov 20-20 cam in my 1972 chevelle, i run uncapped headers and it sounds bad ass

its obvious u really love ur car. so i have a question. if u were determined to let nobody know u had it and let it sit in a barn for 30 years what would get u to bring it out? my friends dad has a 69 z28. rare blue interior. original everything. not sure of mileage. car is mint. just sittin in a barn under a cover. people bugged him to buy it. he got tired of it. so he put it there. never moved since. i just got him to pull his other 69 out of a garage today. that ones not stock tho
